Register a brand
A brand is the legal entity or business that sends messages. Brands represent your company's identity and must be registered before you launch campaigns. This applies to all USA number types (10DLC, short code, or toll-free).
What is a brand?
A brand in USA sender registration is your official business entity that owns and operates messaging campaigns. Brands undergo verification to ensure legitimacy and compliance with industry regulations.
Why brands are required [#why-brands-are-required-what-is-a-brand]
- Compliance: All USA messaging requires brand registration as a security measure
- Identity verification: Infobip and carriers verify your business legitimacy
- Campaign ownership: Each campaign must be tied to an approved brand
- Reusability: Brands can be used across multiple campaigns and number types
Brand information required [#brand-information-required-what-is-a-brand]
When creating a brand, you will provide core fields that apply to all number types, plus additional fields depending on your number type.
Core fields - all number types
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Legal Company Name | Yes | Official business name as registered with Secretary of State |
| DBA (Doing Business As) | No | Alternative name if you operate under a different name than the legal entity |
| Website | Yes | Company primary website URL |
| Address | Yes | Main business address. Physical address, not P.O. box. Include street address, city, state, and ZIP code |
| Business Information | Yes | Description of your business and operations |
| Contact Email | Yes | Support email for the program. Domain must match either the Legal Company Name or DBA |
| Contact Phone Number | Depends on number type | Support phone number |
Number-type-specific fields
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Company Type | Yes | Nonprofit, Government, Public, or Private |
| Vertical/Industry | Yes | Select from 23 industry classifications (Healthcare, Retail, Financial Services, and so on) |
| Tax ID | Yes | See Tax ID requirements below |
| Alternative Business IDs | No | DUNS, GIIN, or LEI numbers |
| Stock Exchange and Symbol | Public companies only | Required for publicly traded companies |

- Lease ownership information: If you are migrating an existing short code to Infobip, provide current lease ownership details.
If short code lease management changes (for example, transferring lease to Infobip or changing DCA responsibility), the brand must be re-vetted after the lease transfer completes. See Brand vetting for details.
- TFN verification status: Toll-free numbers require verification. Your brand registration will include TFN verification information.
Tax ID requirements [#tax-id-requirements-what-is-a-brand]
| Region | Accepted formats |
|---|---|
| United States | Nine-digit Employer Identification Number (EIN) from IRS. Must match your legal company name and IRS registration address exactly. |
| Canada | Canadian Business Number (first 9 digits only), Corporation/Incorporation Number, or Registry ID |
| International | VAT ID (numeric portion only) or primary corporation registration number |
New EINs may take 24 to 48 hours to appear in the IRS system.
Brand approval timeline and fees [#brand-approval-timeline-and-fees-what-is-a-brand]
Timeline: Brand approval typically takes 1 to 3 business days after submission. Once approved, you can create unlimited campaigns under that brand.
Fees: A one-time pass-through fee applies to 10DLC brand registration. Short code and toll-free brands have different fee structures depending on vetting requirements.
How to create a brand
Create a brand through the web interface or API:
- Log in to your Infobip account and go to Channels and Numbers > Tools & Compliance > US Sender Registration. You land on the Brands tab by default.
- Select Create Brand, then select your number type (10DLC, Short Code, or Toll Free Number) and select Continue.
- Complete all required fields. For the complete field reference (including number type-specific fields, Tax ID requirements, and examples), see Brand information required.
- Review all information for accuracy, ensure your Legal Company Name and contact email domain align, and select Save or Submit (exact wording varies by number type). Your brand enters the approval queue.
- You receive an email once your brand is approved. The brand appears in your Brands list with status Approved and you can create campaigns under it.
Key reminders:
- Legal Company Name must exactly match business registration documents and be officially registered with your Secretary of State.
- DBA (Doing Business As) is optional. Campaign branding can match either Legal Company Name or DBA.
- Contact Email domain must match either Legal Company Name or DBA:
Legal Company Name: "Acme Corp" > support@acmecorp.com
DBA: "Acme Services" > support@acmeservices.com
Mismatch: "Acme Corp" > support@gmail.com (will be rejected)
- For Short Code brands: Include lease ownership information if migrating an existing short code.
- For 10DLC brands: Complete industry/vertical and tax ID information.
- For Toll Free brands: Complete TFN verification information.
Create brands programmatically using the USA Number Registration API.
Creating a brand through the API does not automatically register it. Use the POST /number-registration/1/brands/{brandId}/register endpoint to register the brand with registrars.
Brand statuses
Brands move through different statuses depending on the number type and verification process.
| Status | Meaning | Action |

| Available | Ready to be registered with TCR | Select brand for campaign registration |
| Submitted | Registration in progress with TCR | Wait for verification |
| Verified | TCR confirmed brand information is legitimate | Use for campaigns; eligible for standard vetting |
| Unverified | TCR unable to verify brand information | Fix EIN, legal name, or address, then resubmit |

| Failed | Registration unsuccessful | Review rejection reason, create new brand with corrected information |
| Vetted Verified | Third-party vetting completed successfully | Eligible for higher throughput tiers (AT&T, T-Mobile) |
Only US brands are validated by TCR. Verified status for public companies may depend on Russell 3000 listing status.

| Unavailable | Brand registration disabled for this account | Contact support |
| Ready to use | Brand approved and ready for campaigns | Use for short code campaign registration |
Brand vetting
After brand approval, you can optionally request vetting to improve throughput limits for 10DLC messaging.

|---|---|---|
| Process | Automated | Automated and specialist evaluation |
| Output | Score (0 to 100) | Detailed vetting report |
| Checks | Classification, integrity, and operational risk | All standard checks |

Vetting may improve AT&T and T-Mobile throughput assignments, but is not guaranteed. For complete vetting procedures, see Brand vetting.
